Fear and The “Game of Thought”
The world itself is the will to power – and nothing else! And you yourself are the will to power – and nothing else! :Friedrich Nietzsche
Once the mind is challenged to reduce each thought to its’ source, it becomes easier to see that thoughts are merely a construction of fragments of other thoughts. These other thoughts never originate from within the individual mind, but are a cocktail of our experiences (listening, reading and seeing) of the thoughts of others.
Once this is accepted, the answer to the question “Am I the constructor of my thoughts?” becomes clear. If you believe so, then like most, you are not yet ready to confront the most powerful influence on the human mind – fear.
As a child, we learn that judgement is bestowed upon those who do not conform. Obedience to the morals, ethics and expectations of our parents soon becomes the driving force of our lives. In some cases, the fear of judgement is reinforced by judgement in the form of physical punishment, in others the punishment is psychological. In all cases there is punishment of feeling bad. The majority of the morals and ethics of our parents were imposed upon them in the same manner they where imposed upon us.
Organized religions played a critical role in establishing these so called standards, as they were (& still are) “the authority” of morality within most communities. These religions who proclaimed ownership of morals, taught their followers that the definition of self was “a body” and “a soul” in order to avoid the use of physical punishment as a tool to ensure conformation. Using psychological punishment under the guise of the threat of eternal damnation, was discovered to be far more powerful in controlling populations. It was also convenient that this was also economically beneficial and avoided the great costs in applying physical punishment.
It’s interesting how religious parents, feel that creating a life long fear of damnation within a child who listens to or follows their own intuitive voice would label this as moral. They also unwittingly instil the ultimate channel for the mind to escape responsibility for any so called “immoral” actions, as these may be forgiven as temptations of the flesh and therefore the soul is pure.
All Bibles or sacred codes have been the causes of the following Errors.
- That Man has two real existing principles Viz: a Body & a Soul.
- That Energy, call’d Evil, is alone from the Body, & that Reason, call’d Good, is alone from the Soul.
- That God will torment Man in Eternity for following his Energies.
But the following Contraries to these are True
- Man has no Body distinct from his Soul for that call’d Body is a portion of Soul discern’d by the five Senses, the chief inlets of Soul in this age
- Energy is the only life and is from the Body and Reason is the bound or outward circumference of Energy.
- Energy is Eternal Delight
William Blake “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell”
This form of establishing morals creates two important roles in the development of a mind;
- The sense of dualism through the learning of an external master who determines what is right and what is wrong. Along with the development of identity, the separate “Self” is born.
- The fear of judgement as this leads to eternal pain.
Add to this, the morals and ethics of ; the family, the community, friends and workplace and the level of conflicts encountered increases to a level that most call “life”.
As a result, a mind may (and in most cases does) live a life in total conflict with itself. Conflict when the thoughts do not conform to the morals provided by the external master. This leads to fear, fear of judgement of others, fear of judgement by the god, but more importantly fear of judgement of oneself.
Accept thoughts are not you, Observe the illusion of thought, Accept the pain of thought and the feeling of love will be the reward!
